Meet Beth Barlow Music – Creating the Soundtrack to Your Wedding Day
Music has the power to transform a moment, from the first notes as you walk down the aisle to the song that gets everyone on their feet later in the day. For wedding singer Beth Barlow, creating those unforgettable moments is at the heart of what she does. Performing at weddings across Yorkshire and throughout the UK, Beth brings a huge repertoire and a warm, personal approach to every celebration.
We caught up with Beth to find out more about her journey into wedding music, her approach to performing, the moments she loves most and her advice for couples planning their perfect Yorkshire Dales wedding.
Getting to Know Beth Barlow Music
Tell us a little about yourself and how you found your way into the wedding industry.
Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. From singing since the day I could talk, to studying Professional Musicianship at university, I’ve had the opportunity to perform as a singer on cruise ships, in bands and at venues and events across the world.
After years of performing, I realised that weddings were something I particularly loved being a part of. There’s something incredibly special about being trusted to provide the soundtrack to such an important day in someone’s life. I love the emotion, excitement and atmosphere that comes with a wedding, and the fact that every couple and every celebration is completely unique!
For me, it’s about much more than just performing. It’s about creating moments that people will remember. Whether that’s your dream aisle song, a couple’s first dance, or getting everyone up and celebrating on the dance floor. Being able to use something I’ve loved doing my whole life to help make someone’s wedding day even more special is what makes performing at weddings so rewarding.
How long have you been performing at weddings?
I have worked in the wedding industry for over 7 years!
Where are you based, and what areas do you cover?
I'm based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, but I travel all over the UK.
What live music and entertainment options do you offer couples for their wedding day?
I provide live music throughout your wedding day, creating the perfect atmosphere for every special moment.
I can sing during your pre-ceremony, ceremony, drinks reception, cocktail hour, wedding breakfast and first dance, with each performance tailored to suit the mood and style of your day.
I also offer a range of packages, giving couples the flexibility to choose the perfect option for their wedding day!
What inspired you to turn your love of singing into a full-time career?
I was originally a music teacher and always thought I would stay in education. However, I found myself missing the excitement of performing and being on stage. I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue singing full-time, not knowing where it would lead.
What started as a risk has somehow grown into my full-time job, allowing me to do what I truly love every single day. Being part of weddings makes it even more special. I get to combine my love of performing with being part of some of the happiest and most memorable moments in people’s lives. Turning my passion into my career really is a dream come true!
What do you love most about being part of someone's wedding day?
I love working in weddings because who doesn't want to witness people experiencing the best day of their lives?! From watching my beautiful brides and grooms walk down the aisle during the ceremony to everyone letting loose on the dance floor, I get to experience so many different emotions throughout the day! I love meeting new people, being welcomed into such an important occasion, and knowing that my role is to help make the day feel even more memorable.
How would you describe Beth Barlow Music in three words?
Entertaining, passionate and personal.
What are some of the performances or career moments you're particularly proud of?
For me, it’s not just about the big names or impressive venues - it’s the experiences, the people and the memories I’ve made along the way that make each performance so special.
Beth's Style and Approach
How would you describe your style as a wedding singer?
My style is unique, elegant and versatile. I bring a polished live performance while keeping things personal, making sure the music complements each moment of your wedding!
What do you think sets you apart from other wedding singers?
I truly believe that when someone is passionate about what they do, it shows. For me, performing isn’t simply a job; it’s something that feels completely natural and something I was made to do!
I bring genuine enthusiasm, experience and personality to every wedding I perform at. I care about creating an incredible experience, not just singing the songs, and I think that passion comes through in every performance. Being able to do what I love and be part of such important moments is what makes my work so special.
What can couples expect when they book you for their wedding?
When you work with me, you can expect a friendly, personal and completely tailored experience. I’m patient, enthusiastic, and I genuinely want to listen to what you envision for your wedding day.
What's the most important thing you want every couple to experience when they book you?
I’ll work with you to make sure the music feels personal and exactly how you want it. My aim is to make the whole process easy, enjoyable and stress-free, so you can relax and look forward to your special day.
Which wedding trends are you loving at the moment?
Personalised weddings! Couples choosing music and details that genuinely reflect them rather than following tradition. I also love it when couples include their dogs as ring bearers because who doesn't love a dog at a wedding?!
Are there any wedding trends you think we'll see more of over the next few years?
I think we’re going to see more couples moving away from the idea of a “traditional” wedding and creating a day that feels completely personal to them. I think live music will become an even bigger part of that, with couples looking for entertainment throughout the day rather than just in the evening.
I also think we’ll see more intimate weddings with fewer guests. I love these types of weddings as you can really see the bride and groom having time to speak to each guest, all whilst still enjoying their day without feeling like they have to get around to chat to everyone.
Top Wedding Advice
What is one wedding planning mistake - or unnecessary worry - you often see couples making?
Not exactly a mistake, but overthinking! It’s so easy to do when planning a wedding, but if you are booking professional suppliers who are good at their job, it's up to them to take the stress off of you and guarantee a great service without any worry.
What advice would you give to couples who have just got engaged and are starting to plan their wedding?
Always remember what the end goal is here, you’re marrying the love of your life. Everything else is a bonus.
It’s so easy to get caught up in the details, expectations and things that don’t quite go to plan. But when it all starts to feel overwhelming, take a step back and remember why you’re doing it.
Your wedding doesn’t have to be perfect or follow every trend, it just needs to feel like you as a couple. Enjoy the planning, make the memories, and don’t let the little things take away from what really matters. At the end of the day, you get to marry your favourite person.
What do couples sometimes overlook when choosing a wedding singer?
One thing couples often overlook when booking a wedding singer is how well they’ll fit the atmosphere of the day. It’s not just about having a great voice, think about their style, personality and ability to read the room. I pride myself on singing songs that will please everyone, and every age, not just sticking to one genre of music. You want someone who can create the right atmosphere for your ceremony, bring energy to your drinks reception, or entertain your hard-to-please Grandma!
What should couples consider or ask about before booking their wedding singer?
No question is ever a silly one, I'm always open to answering absolutely anything. At the end of the day, this is your wedding so let's make it perfect!
What is your top tip for creating a wedding day that guests will genuinely remember?
Make the day about you as a couple, not what you think a wedding is “supposed” to look like. Choose the music, food, details and moments that genuinely reflect your personality and your relationship. The little personal touches are often what guests remember most, and they’ll make the day feel so much more meaningful to you!
And don’t forget to actually enjoy it! The day will fly by, so take a moment together to step back, soak it all in and appreciate that you’re surrounded by the people you love, celebrating the start of your marriage.
If couples were going to invest a little more in one part of their wedding day, where would you suggest spending it?
I may be biased, but I would ALWAYS say entertainment! Who wants a quiet wedding day?! It’s all about the vibes.
And food, of course - well fed guests are happy guests, in my opinion! Good food + great entertainment = the perfect wedding day!
Behind the Scenes
What is the most rewarding part of being a wedding singer?
There are so many rewarding parts of my job, but obviously, being the soundtrack to someone’s wedding day is pretty special. But most importantly, getting to sing you down the aisle as you walk towards your forever… I absolutely LOVE it. I get to witness so much love in my job, but being able to add a little piece of my voice to such a huge moment in someone’s life genuinely warms my heart every single time.
Is there one wedding moment or experience that has particularly stayed with you?
Honestly, I’ve had SO many memorable moments over the years that I don’t think I could
ever pick just one!
I once had a couple hire a witch to try and grant them good weather for their wedding
day… and then there was the time one of my TikTok videos went viral and somehow landed
me on ITV News!
Every wedding brings something different, and I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re all so unique in their own way.
Weddings don't always go exactly to plan! How do you handle unexpected changes or challenges on the day?
Absolutely! With any job, there’s always going to be something unexpected that gets in the way, whether it’s a last-minute change, a technical issue, or something completely out of your control!
The key is staying calm, being patient and always remaining professional. Weddings can be incredibly emotional, so the last thing you want to do is add to the stress. I always try to take a breath, find a solution and just keep things moving. At the end of the day, it’s about making sure the couple have the best possible experience, whatever might be happening behind the scenes.
What is something couples might be surprised to learn about what you do on a wedding day?
I think couples might be surprised to learn that I don’t actually follow an exact setlist! As I mentioned before, I always read the room and sing what I feel people are going to enjoy in that moment. I LOVE taking song requests, and when it comes to your ceremony, I’ll always stick to the songs you’ve specifically chosen and requested.
But for the rest of the day, I really do take each section as it comes. I’ve worked on cruise ships, performed in so many different environments and built up a HUGE library of songs in my head over the years!
I’ve also somehow developed the ability to learn a song within minutes, which is definitely a skill you pick up when you work in this industry! So if someone requests a song I don’t know, chances are I’ll be able to learn it pretty quickly and give it a go.
Every wedding is different, every crowd is different, and I think being able to read the room and go with the flow is what makes it so much fun! It’s an approach that’s always worked really well for me, and I love that no two weddings ever feel exactly the same.
The Yorkshire Dales and The Gamekeeper's Inn
What do you love most about performing at weddings in the Yorkshire Dales?
There’s just something so magical about celebrating love surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful countryside and some of the most stunning wedding venues! And of course, I’m a Yorkshire girl through and through, so getting to do what I love in such a beautiful part of the world is pretty hard to beat!
Why do you think couples are so drawn to countryside wedding venues?
I think people are drawn to countryside weddings because there’s something so naturally beautiful and peaceful about them. You’ve got the stunning scenery, the fresh air, the open spaces and that feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It creates such a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, where you can really slow down and enjoy being surrounded by the people you love most.
What do you think makes a Yorkshire wedding particularly special?
Oh, there are SO many reasons I love making the most of a Yorkshire wedding! First of all, the Yorkshire banter, especially from the staff and all the amazing local suppliers. There’s always plenty of laughs, and I absolutely love how everyone seems to work together and bring such a great energy to the day.
Then, of course… Yorkshire puddings! You can’t have a Yorkshire wedding without them.
But honestly, I think my favourite part is the PARTY that Yorkshire people bring! There’s something about a Yorkshire crowd, they know how to have a good time, get involved, sing their hearts out and keep the dance floor going!
You've performed at The Gamekeeper's Inn before. What did you enjoy most about the venue and your experience here?
Yes, I have! I left thinking, WOW, the staff were so friendly, accommodating and kind. The transitions between each section of the day ran smoothly and I knew at that moment I would love to come back. You don’t always get that with some venues.
What advice would you give to couples planning a countryside wedding at a venue like The Gamekeeper's Inn?
My biggest piece of advice would be to trust the process and, most importantly, ENJOY it! When you choose a countryside venue such as The Gamekeeper’s Inn, you’re already in such a beautiful setting, and you’re surrounded by a team of people who know exactly what they’re doing. Your wedding day is in safe hands, so don’t let the little things worry you.
Quick Fire Questions
Favourite wedding season?
Autumn, not too hot, not too cold! I love the colour schemes of an autumn wedding too.
Favourite wedding song?
For the ceremony, I’d have to say Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers. I absolutely LOVE singing that one!
If I had to pick one song for the rest of the day though, it would have to be Proud Mary! It never fails to get people up dancing. It’s one of those songs where you can just feel the energy in the room change!
Favourite part of the wedding day?
Every part is so different, so it's hard to choose! I’d maybe say the drinks reception or the end of the wedding breakfast when all the nervousness of the ceremony goes away and people finally can let their hair down! But then again, I LOVE singing my brides down the aisle and seeing their dress. So basically, that question is a fail because I love it all!
Best piece of wedding advice you’ve ever heard?
It's your ceremony. Don't treat it as something you have to rush through to get to the reception. It's the actual reason everyone is there. Make it personal if that's your style.
Remember the whole reason why you are there - to marry your person! Take 5 minutes alone with each other once you’re married, and something people always forget is to actually BE with your partner and try not to leave their side. It’s so easy to feel like you have to get around and chat to everyone!
One luxury that’s always worth the investment?
I’ll say it again…entertainment!
What’s your prediction for weddings in 2027?
Less “Pinterest wedding”, more character-filled. I think the ultra-coordinated wedding, matching everything, perfectly curated colours, generic luxury aesthetic, will start to feel dated.
2027 will favour things that look like they belong to the couple. Old family photographs. Personal vows. Handwritten notes. Music that means something. A homemade cake. A childhood tradition. A favourite drink. Clothes that aren't necessarily conventional.
One word to describe your perfect wedding?
Unforgettable.
