Featured Gamekeeper's Wedding - Lucy & Andrew
We love making your dream weddings a reality at The Gamekeeper's Inn. It's always an honour to be part of such a special day. Recently, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with some of our happy couples and reminiscing about their unforgettable experiences with them, and now we're excited to share their stories with you.
Could you tell us your names? Lucy & Andrew
How did you both meet?
We met on Bumble, the internet dating app. After a few weeks of talking, we met at the Calverley Arms for tea in March 2022.
How did Andrew propose?
We got engaged during our first little getaway as a family of three, in beautiful Anglesey, on 19th April 2024. It was such a special moment and the perfect way to mark the beginning of this next chapter together.
What did Andrew do for his stag do?
Andrew’s stag do took him to Kilkenny. After a cancelled flight and a long day of travelling, he finally made it to celebrate with his friends. The first morning was spent at a sports day, where Andrew was made to wear a Bradford City kit - a cheeky move considering Lucy is a City fan while Andrew is a Leeds fan!
That afternoon, the group headed out into the pubs, dressed as Harry Potter. Needless to say, they certainly left their mark on Kilkenny and soon became known as the famous Harry Potters!
Lucy, we hear you had three hen parties!
Yes! For my first one, I headed to Leeds with my friends for a bottomless brunch, followed by lots of terrible singing at a karaoke bar.
My second hen do was a little more relaxing: a day at Rudding Park Spa with my family, followed by a night out in Harrogate. For my third and final hen do, I went pottery painting with my two flower girls.
Three hen dos, three very different days, but lots of special memories along the way!
What was the date of your wedding? Saturday 16th May 2026
What made The Gamekeeper's Inn stand out to you as your perfect wedding venue?
Our first night away together was in the Yorkshire Dales, where we stayed at the Old Hall Inn, just down the road from The Gamekeeper's Inn. We had always loved the idea of a beautiful barn-style wedding, but we also wanted the convenience of having accommodation onsite, especially with our little boy.
After spending months looking for the right venue, we finally came to view The Gamekeeper's Inn and we both instantly knew it was the one.
Angela was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. She was incredibly helpful, answered all of our questions, responded to emails so quickly and was always so flexible with everything we wanted. From the moment we chose the venue, we knew we were in safe hands.
How did you start your wedding day celebrations?
We had a big family meal at the venue the night before the wedding, which was the perfect way to start the celebrations. The food was delicious, and it was lovely to have all our family together before the big day.
Lucy, tell us all about your wedding morning!
My morning started off lovely and relaxing, spending time with my mum, sister and two flower girls while we all had our hair and makeup done. It was such a lovely start to the day, and I was feeling excited for everything to come.
That all changed when my little boy arrived at the room ready to get into his suit! He absolutely did not want to wear it, and after lots of persuasion and a little bribery with some new toys, we eventually managed to get him dressed. By then, there wasn’t much time left for me to get into my dress and have my final hair and make-up touch-ups!
What was the morning like for you, Andrew?
My morning started very early, with Lucy kicking Noah and me out of the hotel room so she could get ready! We went for breakfast, and I then spent the rest of the morning getting ready with my best men and groomsmen.
I was pretty nervous right up until the ceremony, so being surrounded by my best friends, walking around the grounds and having a laugh was exactly what I needed to settle my nerves and enjoy the build-up to the big moment.
Did you set a theme for the wedding?
Our theme was rustic and our colour scheme was sage green. We knew straight away that we wanted a rustic theme with a sage green colour scheme. Create A Look helped us bring our vision to life, creating the perfect look for our special day.
Lucy, how did you feel walking down the aisle?
Just before walking down the aisle, Noah decided to have a full toddler tantrum! All my nerves disappeared and were quickly replaced with very high stress levels.
I had bought him a little sign to walk down the aisle with, which said, “Daddy, it’s time to give Mummy our last name.” I had pictured the moment perfectly in my head, but unfortunately, my plan didn’t quite go how I had imagined!
As soon as I reached the end of the aisle and saw Andrew, all my stress started to disappear. We both saw the funny side of it and were more focused on trying to console our little boy, who just wanted his mummy and daddy. So, in true Noah style, he ended up joining us at the top of the aisle!
It definitely wasn’t how we had planned it, but looking back, it made the moment even more memorable and was a perfect reflection of life as a little family of three.
Andrew, what was it like for you as you waited for Lucy?
Standing at the front of the ceremony waiting for Lucy felt like the longest wait ever. I was quite emotional, and when I finally saw her walking down the aisle, I couldn’t hold back a tear or two. She looked absolutely beautiful, and it suddenly made everything feel very real.
Of course, Noah decided he wanted to be right there with us for the entire ceremony, so he joined us at the front and made sure he was part of every moment! That wasn’t quite how we planned it, but it made it even more special and the memories we’ll never forget.
You looked absolutely beautiful, Lucy. Tell us all about your wedding look!
My dress was a beautiful blush colour, covered in delicate lace and floral details. I chose a matching blush-coloured veil, finished with blush flowers in my hair to complete the look. My dress, veil and hair piece were all from The Bridal Boutique in Baildon. Tracy made the whole experience of finding my perfect dress so easy and enjoyable. She listened to what I wanted and helped me find a dress that felt absolutely perfect for me and for our wedding day.
How did you know you had found 'the' dress?
I had an idea in my head of the type of dress I wanted, but after trying on quite a few dresses, I still hadn’t quite found 'the one'. Then Tracy picked out a dress for me to try. As soon as I put it on, I knew straight away that this was it. It wasn’t necessarily what I had imagined I would choose, but it turned out to be absolutely perfect for me.
Who did your hair and makeup?
Yorkshire Dales Wedding Hair and Makeup. As soon as I met Jill and Jayne, I knew I was in safe hands. They listened carefully to how I wanted my hair and makeup to look, and during my trial in November, I showed them pictures and described the style I had in mind. They created exactly the look I was hoping for.
On the wedding day, they made me, my sister, mum, two flower girls, mother-in-law and sisters-in-law all feel absolutely beautiful. My hair and makeup lasted all day and night — I only wish I could look like that every day!
They were not only incredibly talented but also so lovely to have around. We all had such a laugh while getting ready, which made the morning even more special. I would highly recommend Jill and Jayne to anyone looking for hair and makeup for their special day. They were amazing from start to finish!
Your bridesmaids also looked beautiful.
Thank you. My sister Charlotte was my Maid of Honour and she wore a dress from Ted Baker. My flower girls were my nieces, Ellia and Sophia, who wore dresses from Monsoon.
Andrew, you and your groomsmen looked great, too!
Thank you! We all wore suits from Joshua Adams in Cleckheaton. My best men were my best friends, Matthew and Jack, my groomsment were my brothers-in-law, Guy, Scott and Nathan, and our little boy Noah was the page boy.
Also, our wedding bands both were from Philip Stoner in Leeds, where I also bought Lucy's engagement ring.
Lucy, which song did you walk down the aisle to? Which song did you both walk out of your ceremony as Mr & Mrs to?
I walked down the aisle to 'Feels like Home' by Chantel Kreviazuk. We walked out to 'Me & You' by Jake Bugg.
Your flowers were lovely. Who was your supplier and how did you decide on a style and theme?
We went to meet Wendy at The Hedgerow to discuss my bouquet and the flower girls’ wands. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted, apart from a petite bouquet with lots of greenery to fit in with our rustic wedding theme.
Wendy showed us some different examples and helped me bring my ideas together to create the perfect bouquet. We also decided on the flowers for all the men, which completed the look perfectly.
I would highly recommend The Hedgerow. Wendy made the whole process so easy and helped us choose the perfect flowers for our wedding day.
Your decor throughout the day looked incredible.
We used Create a Look for all of our wedding decorations. We met Jessica at The Gamekeeper's Inn during a Wedding Fayre and arranged a consultation to discuss exactly how we wanted the room to look.
Jessica completely understood our vision and brought it to life perfectly. Everything looked exactly how we had imagined, from the little details to the overall rustic feel of the room. Angela also spoke directly with Jessica to arrange everything for the venue set-up, which took a huge amount of pressure off me in the run-up to the wedding and meant I could relax knowing everything was taken care of.
We finished the room with a beautiful light-up backdrop and 'LOVE' letters from Exclusive Entertainments, which completed the look perfectly.
We would highly recommend Create a Look. Jessica was fantastic from start to finish and helped make our wedding venue look absolutely beautiful!
What did you have as favours for your guests?
The men enjoyed a shot of Cognac, while the ladies had a shot of Limoncello — a little something to get everyone in the party mood! I also made activity packs for all the children at the wedding, filled with things to keep them entertained throughout the day. It was important to us that all of our younger guests had just as much fun as the adults!
Your food looked delicious, tell us all about your wedding menu!
We had 80 guests with us during the day, with around 100 joining us in the evening, so there was plenty of food to keep everyone well fed!
For our wedding breakfast, we gave our guests a choice of two options for each course. For starters, they could choose between soup of the day or a bloody mary prawn & crayfish cocktail. For the main course, the choices were fillet of seabass or roast sirloin of beef.
For dessert, guests could choose between a crème brûlée or a dessert assiette, which included a chocolate brownie, lemon posset and white chocolate tart.
Later in the evening, we served chilli or southern fried chicken and chips for supper, along with a cheese board and plenty of crisps for everyone to snack on throughout the night.
There was certainly no chance of anyone going hungry! All the food was absolutely amazing!
You also had a sweet cart in the evening, which looked great!
Lucy had always wanted a sweet cart for the wedding, especially with her massive sweet tooth! We booked one very early on in the wedding planning, but unfortunately, it was cancelled just over a month before the big day.
Luckily, we managed to find an even better sweet cart from Prestige Event Company. It fitted perfectly with our rustic wedding theme and looked fantastic on the day. In the end, the last-minute change worked out perfectly — and, of course, having plenty of sweets for everyone was a must!
We absolutely loved your cake! Who created it and how did you decide on flavours, theme etc.?
Our cake was made by Heidi at The Bakery Barn. We both knew we wanted a semi-naked cake to fit perfectly with our rustic wedding theme. We met Heidi at a wedding fayre and got to sample some of her delicious cakes, so we knew straight away that we wanted her to make our wedding cake.
We had a cake tasting where we sampled lots of different flavours, which was definitely one of the best parts of wedding planning! We eventually chose three flavours: lemon drizzle, cherry bakewell and white chocolate.
The cake was absolutely delicious — so delicious that every last bit was eaten! It also looked beautiful and fitted perfectly with our rustic theme. We would highly recommend The Bakery Barn. Heidi was great at communicating, the cakes were delicious and the finished cake was beautifully decorated.
What song did you choose for your first dance?
Our first dance was to 'One Life' by James Bay. We had our first dance song picked out from the moment we booked the venue in 2024.
Was there a special meaning behind this song choice?
The song was released around the time we first started dating and seemed to be playing on the radio all the time, so it quickly became a special song for us. It felt like the perfect choice for our first dance and a lovely reminder of where our story began, making it even more special to share it together on our wedding day.
You had quite a variety of entertainment! Tell us all about it.
Our MC Chris Belcher was absolutely amazing and helped the whole day run so smoothly. We met with him and Angela the day before the wedding for our final meeting, where we went through all the last-minute details to make sure everything was organised. We gave Chris all the information he needed, including who was who, where everyone needed to be and exactly how we wanted the day to run. He took everything on board and made sure everything happened just as we had planned.
Chris was not only brilliant at keeping the day running to schedule, but he also added to the entertainment and atmosphere throughout the day. And, of course, it helped that he’s a big Bradford City fan, just like all of Lucy’s family! He was a fantastic addition to our wedding day and helped make everything run seamlessly.
We loved your music - did you always know you wanted a band, and how did you choose who to book?
Having a band was a big part of our wedding day, especially with Andrew being in a band himself. We spent quite a lot of time searching online before finding Elements. They were playing locally to us, so we went along to watch them — and after spending the evening enjoying their set, we knew straight away that we wanted them to play at our wedding.
We booked them quite early on in our wedding planning, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. They were the perfect band for our day, playing a great mix of songs that had everyone up dancing and singing along. They also provided the music as our DJ between their sets, which kept the atmosphere going throughout the evening and meant there was never a dull moment on the dance floor.
We would highly recommend Elements to anyone looking for a wedding band. They were fantastic from start to finish and kept the party going all night!
You also had a magician between the ceremony and wedding breakfast!
Mark Waddington was absolutely brilliant and amazed all of our guests with his incredible tricks. We honestly have no idea how he did them! He had everyone entertained, guessing and trying to work out how on earth he had managed to pull off each trick. We would highly recommend Mark. He was a fantastic addition to our wedding day and the perfect way to keep our guests entertained between the ceremony and wedding breakfast.
We loved when you surprised your guests with singing waiters during the wedding breakfast.
And somehow we managed to keep it a secret! This was a massive achievement for Lucy, especially considering how excited she was about it.
The waiters were absolutely brilliant and were the perfect addition to our day. They completely surprised our guests and soon had everyone up out of their seats, dancing and singing along. We even got the chance to take over the microphone themselves — although the less said about Lucy’s singing, the better!
We would highly recommend Waiter Surprise. Their communication was brilliant, they set up completely discreetly and did an amazing job of getting everyone involved. It was the perfect way to surprise our guests and get the party started!
Who was your photographer?
Lee Call Photography and Film. We found Lee at a wedding fayre and immediately knew we loved his work and wanted him to capture our special day.
Lee was fantastic throughout the wedding and did an amazing job of capturing all the special memories, from the big moments to the little details. Our photos have turned out absolutely perfect, and it’s so difficult to choose a favourite because we love them all!
Lee also filmed our ceremony and speeches, which has been such a lovely addition. We’ve already watched them back loads of times and know they’ll be something we treasure for years to come.
Lee was extremely organised throughout the day and made everything feel effortless. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer and videographer - he captured our wedding day perfectly and gave us memories we can look back on forever.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
After the wedding, we had a little night away in London, just the two of us. We went to see The Lion King musical, enjoyed lots of lovely meals in some great restaurants and, of course, had a cocktail or two!
Then, a month after the wedding, we headed off on our familymoon to France. We spent a week exploring the Dordogne before heading to the coast for a week in Île de Ré. France felt like the perfect choice for us, as we both grew up going on holiday to France every year, and it was also where we took Noah on his very first holiday abroad. Andrew had visited the Dordogne before, but Île de Ré was a completely new destination for both of us.
We had the best time making memories as a family of three, despite being there during a heatwave! It was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding and start this next chapter together.
Have you been back to The Gamekeeper's Inn since your wedding?
We haven’t been back yet but we will definitely return very soon.
What is your favourite memory of the day?
It’s so hard to pick a favourite part of the day because, from start to finish, the whole day was absolutely perfect. There are so many special moments that we will treasure forever, and if we could, we would do it all over again in a heartbeat. We created so many amazing memories with our family and friends that we will look back on for the rest of our lives. It truly was the most incredible day, and one we will never forget.
Which is your favourite photo of the day and why?
It’s so hard to pick a favourite photo from our wedding day, but this is definitely one of our favourites. It captures how happy we were, surrounded by the trees and nature in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We love how the setting shows just how beautiful the Dales are, and we also love the black and white style, which gives the photo a timeless feel
If you could re-live the day all over again, is there anything you would do differently?
Absolutely nothing! The day was perfect from start to finish, even though our little boy didn’t walk down the aisle quite as we had pictured. In fact, his little tantrum and dramatic entrance made the day even more memorable. It’s one of those moments we can laugh about now, and we’re sure it will be a video we’ll be showing him when he’s 18!
It was a joy to host your beautiful wedding day, thank you again for choosing us and trusting us with such a special and important day in your lives.
We cannot recommend The Gamekeeper’s Inn enough for making our wedding day absolutely perfect. Angela and her team went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was everything we wanted it to be and more.
We honestly couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue for our special day. From the very beginning, Angela was in regular contact with us and was always there to answer any questions we had, no matter how big or small. Knowing we could contact her whenever we needed made the whole planning process so much easier and gave us complete confidence that everything was in safe hands.
All of the staff at The Gamekeeper’s Inn were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they helped make our wedding weekend truly unforgettable.
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or a better team to celebrate our special day with.
