Book Your Table

Beth Jack 10

We absolutely LOVE hosting your weddings here at The Gamekeeper's Inn and creating a day that's perfect for you is a wonderful feeling. So we've asked some of our brides to relive their special day with us by filling out a little questionnaire so we could share a little bit of the magic with you too!

Please tell us yours and your husbands names Beth & Jack

The date of your wedding with us? 7th August 2019

Tell us how you met? We worked together at Ilkley golf club

How did he or she propose? He took me up Coniston Old Man in the Lake District, and booked a weekend away up there the weekend before my 21st birthday. He proposed up the mountain and we had a picnic up there.

What was the theme for your day, and did you have a colour scheme? Our colour scheme was baby blue, but didn’t have a theme as such. We just chose designs we liked but kept it quite plain and simple.

Where did you hold your ceremony? At the Gamekeepers Inn!

Why did you choose The Gamekeeper’s Inn as your reception venue? We loved the venue, the room was exactly the kind of room we wanted, and the grounds meant we could have some beautiful photos

When did you know you had found THE dress? I lost count of how many I tried on, but when I tried one on that was 5 sizes too big and I still cried. I knew then that it had to be the one!

Who were your bridesmaids and what did they wear? I had two friends I’ve known almost my whole life, they’re like sisters to me. And I also had a close friend I met a few years ago, who happens to be our best man’s wife. They wore baby blue dresses with a dipped hem - they were multi-way so they could choose to wear them how they felt most comfortable.

Tell us about your floral arrangements Our flowers were beautiful, simple and just perfect for what we wanted. They were mostly white, with green foliage, and the odd few blue flowers in there to tie in with the blue theme.

Tell us about the personal touches you added to the day We had scrabble letters for our place names, and created a game where each table had to create the most valuable sentence (out of the scrabble points on each letter). It created a lot of laughs during the meal & everyone enjoyed it.

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle? It’s an indescribable feeling, I wasn’t nervous at all in the morning until the doors at the back of the room opened. Seeing everyone there & Jack at the front waiting for me was just amazing. I shed a tear & will remember that moment for the rest of my life.

What was the most memorable moment of your day? This is a tough one! The speeches were amazing & we’ve got them all on video to watch again. Another more funny moment I remember was later in the evening when the live music was on, we ended up making too much noise and the sound limiter cut all the electrics! It just made me so happy knowing everyone was having such a good time.

Which song did you choose for your first dance and why? We chose Ronan Keating – ‘When You Say Nothing at All’. The lyrics just resonated with us, and it just seemed like the perfect fit for our day.

Which food and drinks did you choose to provide for your guests on the day? We had canapés to start - the favourite being the mini toad in the hole! We had a three-course meal then, giving guests a couple of options to choose from. I think my favourite dish out of them all was the dessert assiette. It was lovely to have a taste of three desserts in one!

Tell us about your wedding cake We kept it simple - it was from M&S. We had one fruit cake tier, one Victoria sponge, and one chocolate. Our florist decorated it for us with some flowers.

What music and entertainment did you have on the day? We had a duo called Colour Blue. They were amazing. They did a couple of live sets and also did the DJing - highly recommend them for future events!

Where did you go on your honeymoon? We had a little mini moon in Portugal straight after the wedding as work meant we couldn’t have lots of time off. We then went to Jamaica for our main honeymoon & it was the best time away ever.

What was the most challenging aspect of planning your wedding? I would say the most challenging aspect was trying to remember to plan the day as we wanted it, and not try to please every guest in the process. All our guests had a great day anyway, and overthinking whether guests are going to be entertained all day just made me more stressed than I needed to be.

Was there anything you wish you had known before? I don’t think so! Our day went perfectly, thanks to the team at the Gamekeepers!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding? Enjoy it! Keep a track of your budget / what you’ve already spent as the costs add up quite quickly.

A short review... "The staff at the Gamekeepers Inn are so attentive & they really care about making your day so special. I remember one lady who was stood with us as we were waiting to greet our guests for the meal and she was picking all the woodland bits out of my dress (after we’d been down to the wood for photos) - something which I was truly grateful for, and something she didn’t have to do!
The food was absolutely amazing, our guests kept telling us how nice it was. Angela was fantastic in the lead up to the day also, very quick to respond to queries & took a real interest in making the day exactly how we wanted it to go. I’d highly recommend the Gamekeepers as a wedding venue."
