We absolutely LOVE hosting your weddings here at The Gamekeeper's Inn and creating a day that's perfect for you is a wonderful feeling. So we've asked some of our brides to relive their special day with us by filling out a little questionnaire so we could share a little bit of the magic with you too!

Please tell us yours and your husbands names Marianna & Jonathan

The date of your wedding with us? 1st June 2019

Tell us how you met? We met at school!

How did he or she propose? We had been to a friend’s fancy dress party. He had gotten VERY drunk and wasn't feeling well, so I rang a taxi to take us home. In his drunken stupor he left me at the party with no money and no house keys!!! So obviously very angry I went home, and shouted until I fell asleep.
I woke up to a message asking me to go downstairs. And there he was with the best apology known to man in a 3 piece suit and eye liner from the night before! He was there on one knee with candles and pictures of us were stuck around the room... and well the rest is history!

What was the theme for your day, and did you have a colour scheme? It was very woodlands. We had navy and blush with hints of gold.

Where did you hold your ceremony? The Netherside Suite

Why did you choose The Gamekeeper’s Inn as your reception venue? We absolutely fell in love as soon as Angela walked us round. It was so peaceful and beautiful!

When did you know you had found THE dress? When my mum put her hand to her mouth and cried... and it had pockets.

Who were your bridesmaids and what did they wear? My bridesmaids were my 3 best friends. They are my absolute ride or dies, and have stuck with me through everything! I also had my nieces as flower girls. They are my world!

Tell us about your floral arrangements They were everything I wanted and more! I had them quite wild with eucalyptus and antique roses, lots of blue thistle and gypsophila!!! Ohh and white freesias mixed with lisianthus which smelt incredible.

Tell us about the personal touches you added to the day My sister and sewed the bunting that hung from the beams! And we had some fondant fancies made with our initials on them! We also had a pork pie cake!

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle? I cried all the way down. I was so overcome with emotion. I couldn’t believe what happening I had felt like a little girl playing dress up all the while planning. This wedding and that moment before I walked down the aisle my dad turned and asked if I was okay. That was it and the flood gates opened, I felt so happy and content I thought I would burst!

What was the most memorable moment of your day? It all flew by so quickly, but in the evening the DJ played ‘Proud’. Mary my sister and I danced so hard! I have a video it’s amazing!

Which song did you choose for your first dance and why? We had ‘Helium’ by Sia. The honest answer is Jonathan has constantly lifted me up throughout our life, we have transitioned from teenagers, to uni, through to adult life together and we felt that song really captured what we think love is. And that’s having someone to pick you up and help.

Which food and drinks did you choose to provide for your guests on the day? We had the duck and the pâté to start, the chicken and the gammon for mains, and then the brandy snap basket and the trio of desserts to finish. In the evening we had the fish and chips. Welcome drinks were Peroni or Pimm’s

Tell us about your wedding cake It was a semi naked 3 tier cake decorated with our flowers. Finished with a topper that said ‘shit just got real’. The flavours were Bakewell tart, chocolate orange, and lemon curd. At the side we also had a 3 tier pork pie cake!!!

What music and entertainment did you have on the day? We actually just had a DJ, we thought about having a band or live music but we just wanted a more relaxed atmosphere.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? We went to Mexico!

What was the most challenging aspect of planning your wedding? The seating plan. It’s insane!

Was there anything you wish you had known before? That it really will all be perfect on the day. You spend so much time stressing and planning but actually the whole point is you are marrying the love of your life and it all will work out.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding? It’s your day. But at the same time, if your family have little requests just let it happen. At the end of it all you won’t even notice the little things!

A short review... "The Gamekeepers Inn was our dream wedding venue! I couldn’t fault anything! The service was amazing, Angela kept everything running smoothly! They even came out with extra gravy for the main course!!"
