Gamekeeper's Wedding - Clare & Adam

We love hosting your weddings here at The Gamekeeper's Inn and bringing your perfect day to life. We've asked some of our happy couples to relive their special day with us by filling out a little questionnaire so we could share a little bit of the magic with you too!

Please tell us your and your husband's names Clare and Adam

The date of your wedding with us? 9th July 2022

Clare Adam 12

How did you meet?
We met in June 2006, when we were introduced to each other by a friend while watching a band in Leeds City Centre. For years we were very good friends, having the best of times together. Then in April 2017, Adam asked me to be his girlfriend.

How did he propose?
During the pandemic, we went walking most weekends in the Wharfe Valley. Adam proposed to me on 7th June 2021 at the top of Simon’s Seat overlooking Threshfield and Grassington, making this area a very special place to us. We could see Simon’s Seat in the views from the grounds at The Gamekeeper’s Inn on our wedding day.

Tell us about your stag and hen celebrations!
Adam went to Dusseldorf in March with his stags, which included watching football, going to a German beer hall and drinking lots of beer. They also did the Stalybridge to Leeds Ale Trail in June.

My hens and I went to Vilamoura, Portugal in May and enjoyed being on holiday, spending time in the sun, lounging by the pool, drinking cocktails, dancing and enjoying nice meals out. We also went to see the ‘Soul Legends Show’ in June at Bibi’s Italianissimo for an evening of dancing, singing and fun.

Our theme was Summer Wedding – with coral, blush pink, ivory and gold, and stone suits to match the summer theme.

Tell us about your wedding looks!
I wore a Venice lace covered ball gown, Style 88100 by Justin Alexander from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge. My hair and makeup was done by Brittany Jae MUA.

The men wore Bromley stone check 3 piece suits from Marc Darcy, supplied by Bridgewater Menswear.

Our rings are all from Philip Kirby Jeweller in Guiseley. My engagement ring is a platinum diamond solitaire ring, my wedding ring is a platinum diamond channel set ring and Adam's wedding ring is a platinum slight court lightweight band.

Tell us about your flower arrangements!
Our flowers were supplied by Wendy at The Hedgerow in Threshfield.

My bridal hand-tied bouquet was made up of pale peach david austin roses, vandela roses, white freesia, and different shades of peach roses with ivory ribbon. My bridesmaids had smaller versions of this bouquet while the flower girl wand was made of tiny flowers in the same theme.

We had white roses bracelets for the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom, ivory roses for Adam's buttonholes, and peach and ivory spray roses for the gents' buttonholes.

As a gift during the wedding reception, my mum received a bouquet of red roses and white carnations. The style was the same as my mum’s from her wedding day. It was my mum and dad's Ruby Wedding Anniversary on Sunday 10th July 2022. The Mother of the Groom received a gift bouquet to match the rest of the wedding day colour theme.

Tell us about your decorations!
I purchased the table centerpieces myself from local shops. The Hedgerow florists in Grassington did the flowers for our top table. Our table name cards were made by Sienna at MONOPaperie.

Creative Venue Stylist did our seat covers to match the theme, with the fairy light backdrop and ceiling drapes.

What did you have for wedding favours?
We chose Lily O'Brien's wedding favour truffles with personalised boxes, and personalised sweets from LoveHearts4u.

Tell us about your wedding cake!
We had a 3 tier wedding cake with iced flowers, by Fran Dunderdale at Every Cloud Cakes and Bakes, Skipton. The bottom tier was vanilla, the middle tier was chocolate and the top tier was salted caramel.

What food did you provide for your guests on the day?
All our catering for our 68 guests was provided by The Gamekeeper's Inn.

At 2pm we had a drinks reception of prosecco and canapes provided by The Gamekeeper's Inn, served outside in the sunshine. We had truffle and potato croquettes with truffle mayonnaise, honey roasted pork sausages, and chicken liver parfait with red onion marmalade on a ciabatta croute.

At 4pm we enjoyed a wedding breakfast in the Netherside Suite.

For starters we had confit of duck croquettes, dresses leaves and sweet chilli sauce, or vegan pear tart, red onion marmalade and dresses salad

Our mains were roast pork with apple sauce, yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and a rich jus, or vegetarian broccoli & brie puff pastry parcel with a tomato and herb sauce.

For dessert we had assiettes of chocolate brownie, lemon tart and strawberry pavlova, as well as tea, coffee and truffles.

We served merlot and sauvingon blanc on the tables and prosecco for the toasts.

Finally, we had an evening supper of sausage sandwiches with hand cut chunky chips.

What was your first dance song?
The first dance song was ‘Just The Two of Us’ by Grover Washington, Jr. with Bill Withers. Our Master of Ceremonies ‘MC Chris’ gathered the wedding guests to circle the dancefloor, swaying hands in the air to the start of the song, then we arrived in through the side door to dance and have fun.

What entertainment did you provide?
At the evening reception we had The Crescendos, a six piece band with a professional DJ. They're a group of very talented musicians who had the wedding party on the dance floor all evening. They played a mix of pop, rock, party, soul and motown, and even learned our favourite songs Back in Black by AC/DC and Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind & Fire.

Who was your photographer?
Our wedding photography was done by Allie and Jon Kilmartin at Dot and Scolly, based in Otley.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?
We went on a mini-moon to Great Langdale in The Lake District and enjoyed the sunny weather. We stayed in The Brimstone, a luxury spa hotel. In September we went to Lanzarote for our honeymoon.
